No I don't agree that it was a good idea for Ponyboy and Johnny to kill a person in the book Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.
He was telling Ponyboy that he was a good person, and advising him to stay that way.
The flash back was when Ponyboy and Johny were hideing out in the church and Ponyboy had a flash back of Darry making breakfast for them all.

Ponyboy is attracted to Cherry physically and Cherry likes Ponyboy because he isn't rude like the other boys. Even though she is a Soc, she doesn't care about Ponyboy being a greaser, she cares more about him as a person.

The judge is the person who acquitted Ponyboy in The Outsiders. Ponyboy had to testify in court about the death of his good friend Johnny.
The question is not "do we agree with his politics". As a person, he is a very good man.
