Yes, when the drum itself or the pads inside are worn out they just dont do anything, its possible in your case you need to adjust the rear bake preassure if they look new and you have repatedly replaced the front brakes. I suggest having a mechanic adjust them, its easy and fast but if you dont know how to do it your car wont brake evenly or the brakes will wear too fast.

My oil stick broke on my 2000 esteem wagon. I tried to glue the top back on with no luck. For a while I used pliers to check the oil but eventually I went to a Suzuki dealer and they happened to have a stick in stock someone had ordered and never picked up - I believe it was about $17.00 or so. You could also try ebay.
