No. Non-US citizens can marry US citizens. This does not automatically make them US citizens as well, though it does generally grant them permanent resident status ("permanent" as long as they stay married, anyway).

Yes, but this does not make you automatically a US citizen, nor does it mean your child will be either.

If you and your fiance have a child together and he is a permanent resident would getting married make him a citizen?

Not automatically. After being married to a US citizen for two years the legal foreign national spouse can apply for citizenship. Visit the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service website for specific information.

If an illegal immigrant overstayed his visa for 4 years and then married a US citizen can he apply for change of status without the risk of being deported?

Marrying a US citizen does not automatically make the other person a citizen. Spouses of US citizens can and do get deported everyday. Send him back home and apply for him while he is not in the U.S.

Your mother is a us citizen does that make you one automatically?

Why does an immigrant need a lawyer for green card after they have married a us citizen?

Marriage to a US citizen does not automatically provide citizenship. There are other aspects that still have to be met. It would be well worth the cost to make sure it is done correctly.

Can a illegal Filipina on a tourist visa get married and become a permanent US citizen?

It is possible for a Filipino in the U.S. on a tourist visa to marry an American citizen. Getting married is usually easy, but being allowed to stay in the U.S. can be more complicated in this situation and may require the help of an attorney.

If a person is married but never took the USA citizenship test do that still make them a US citizen?

No, they were never a citizen; marriage to a US citizen does not automatically make you a citizen. Marriage to a US citizen allows you the a reason to apply citizenship; of which the test is a part of the process. The USA citizenship test is only one of the steps to becoming a citizen; it does not grant you citizenship if you pass it. You still have to apply for citizenship and get through the process. If you want to become a citizen and have been married and never applied for citizenship, then all you have to do now is apply. There is no requirement for you to become a citizen, just because you are married to a citizen. You never have to apply if you don't want to become a citizen. No one will force you to become a citizen just because you are married to a citizen; it is totally a voluntary process. So, if you are concerned that you've been married for 25 years or whatever and you never bothered to apply for citizenship, and now you've decidecd you want to become a citizen, don't worry there is no penalty to wating this long. it has no barring upon your status; its not illegal or anything.

If a non-US citizen marries a US citizen while in a foreign country can the non-US citizen work and live in the US?

Sure, there are no restrictions on marriage. However, being married does not automatically change one's visa status or citizenship. Make sure you understand the requirements to become a legal resident so that you are not separated from your spouse by INS!
