You dont really have to bench bleed the cylinder. It makes it easier to get the air out after its put on. If you dont bench bleed it, you just have to pump it until your leg wears out to get all the air out of the line.
If you are replacing make sure that you bench bleed prior to installation
Disconnect fluid linesRemove mounting boltsSlide cylinder out of booster REMEMBER TO BENCH BLEED NEW MASTER CYLINDER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION

You do not reset a master cylinder. You should bench bleed it before installing.
