Typically, you are not responsible for the maintenance of a rented house. The responsibility for this falls on your landlord. However, read the rental agreement to be sure what you are/are not responsible for.

Another thing you may want to look for is the location. For example if the house is in a safe area, if it is close to stores you would normally go to regulary. Hope you find a good rental house to live in! Find out if they are paying the mortgage on time. If you have a rental agreement and the owner is foreclosed on, you may have to move before the lease is up. Have the house inspected for safety, since some individuals renting homes only do so after having to move - and didn't do required maintenance.
