Also, the best choice for your first lip piercing is a stud, as a ring could alter the shape in which the initial piercing heals and could affect the positioning if you later decide to have a stud.

It won't parilize your lip but if you hit a vein it can cause a lot of bleeding nd then the lip will have to be re done..also if u do it at home do it with a 16g hollow needle and use a 18gauge stud or ring....I have tryed mine at home before with a sewing needle then tried to put the jewelery in after I was done....the hole was not big enough and I could not get it in!
