Your doctor was right in not giving you a D&C. As you were only three weeks pregnant when you had your miscarriage, the baby would have bled out of you and nothing would have been left inside you. D&C's are usually given to women who have miscarriages when they have carried the baby for at least 6 weeks. As you only carried it for half of that time, it was not necessary. All I can advise you to do is not to worry but to rest and grieve, support your partner as he is grieving too and let him know how you are feeling. Once you have completed your grieving period, you will begin to feel better.
Certainly. You would have to deliver the baby at first. It is pretty uncommon to miscarry that far along, you can usually deliver the baby if you start to go in to labor. The only times you would not need and D&C would be if you were not far enough along for the placenta to develop.
Yes. If anything is left inside you will get infections.
A D&C may be a good idea to remove any extra tissue left in the uterus. Any tissue left in could cause infections.
I miscarried at 13 weeks and I had a D&C done the same day before I left the hospital
typically, after the doctor tells you that you are going to have a miscarriage, he/she will have you wait up to two weeks to see if you can pass the baby naturally. after that time period, you report back to your doctor and they will schedule the d & c. Personally, i waited four weeks after i found out the sac had collapsed just to see if i could miscarry naturally. I was only 5 weeks and they say it is much easier to miscarry naturally being so early in my pregnancy. I just had the D & C two days ago and i feel totally fine. They put me to sleep and it felt like 5 minutes later i was in recovery. I went home the same day after a good hospital meal and a prescription for antibiotics to keep from heavy bleeding and infection. I am so sorry about your loss and good luck!
It will start to decompose and give you infections and that is why you have to see a doctor when you miscarry and have a D&C, an abortion method where they scrape the uterus.
You can have it at 37 weeks, as they consider you full term at that point in time.
This information is correct. I experienced the exact same thing. The early ultrasound is exeptionally accurate in most cases and the baby should measure within 1 week of the estimated age. Your body will most likely miscarry otherwise a D&C could be recommended. The pregnancy will most likely not advance past 12 weeks.
It depends. My baby died at 8 weeks and I found out at 12 weeks through an ultrasound, and it was removed by D&C
The latest you can miscarry without it causing harm to you or being unnormal is 3-4 month's if it any later it might be a risk to you and you might have to get a d and c i hope this helps you ladies out.
A blighted ovum is when the sperm and egg meet and implant - the yolk sac grows, but usually no fetal pole (no baby) or sometimes there is a fetal pole, with no heartbeat. You still feel very pregnant because you have the pregnancy hormone due to the placenta beginning to form. You may miscarry naturally, but sometimes that takes weeks. They can do a d&C for a suction currettage (which is done in the office, as opposed to the D&C).
Yes.
The baby still has a few weeks to move in its own. After that doctors will usually try to turn it. If it doesn´t work, usually they will decide on a c-section.
A friend of mine, last year, was told that her pregnancy wasn't viable because they couldn't see a sack/yolk at the first ultrasound. They asked her to schedule a d&c. She said she would wait and at her next appointment the fetus was developing fine. She has a smart, beautiful 5 month baby girl now!
I am very sorry if you've miscarried. Usually miscarrying at this stage isn't that common & if it did occur then you would have a 'mini' labor and may need a D & C if the miscarriage is not complete. Just wanted to say that I am sorry for your loss.
