Do you have to know how to cut hair before you go to a barber school?

not at all, im in beauty school and i will be graduating in a little over a week. I went in having no clue what to do, the thing about beauty school is they are meant to teach you what you need to know for the state board test, which is the test that will give you your license... im not sure what the laws are where you live but in California after 960 hours of schooling you can become an intern and that's where you will really learn.

∙ 12y agoIt really depends on whether you want to only cut hair or if you want to cut hair and all the other things that most salons do today. I say this because I have been to many salons in my neighborhood where hair cuts only cost $8 for women! In these 'cheaper' salons, that's all they do--just hair cuts. I now go to a salon where I pay $30 for a hair cut but there is a huge difference. My hair stylist actually takes the time to style the cut for me. I think you should look into getting some kind of training from a beauty salon school to widen your opportunities as most salons do cosmetics, hair tinting, styling and other aesthetics.

You should rent out chairs to other barber's. If you know how to cut hair you should cut it. I think there is no longer a need for the lisence to Barber. If you have a cosmetology or hairdressing lisence...you should be fine. Just cut mens hair and dont do chemicals unless your trained.
