You can get a base (or bases) that will attach directly to the top of the receiver. Then the rings mount to the base. Pretty standard scope mounting process.
i have an older marlin 30-30 lever and i put rails and rings on it and they work great. hope this helps
Yes. without rails there is nothing to mount the scope (and scope rings) to.
Since it has weaver rails, all you need are Weaver scope rings. An offset mount will help too.
"Weaver" is a certain size rail that is skinny at the bottom, and thicker at the top. It is the standard mount for most Red dot sights and scope rings. There are also hand-grips, flashlights, lasers, range finders and grenade launchers that fit these rails.
A weaver number 2 base and your choice of weaver side mount rings, midway has both. Total cost for both pieces is around $50.
Hello: Weaver offers a scope base for the Marlin Model 512 Slugmaster, contact Weaver for a complete package. Thanks side scope mount (Weaver 10M)

That's the Marlin 101 single-shot .22 rifle. It MAY be grooved to accept tip-off rings (two long grooves on the top of the receiver). If so, all you need are a pair of "Tip-Off Rings" and you're set. If not, you will need a gunsmith to drill and tap the receiver for a mount. sales@countrygunsmith.net
