There are two kinds of registration. If you are talking about city registration, that is usually done at your local city hall, and varies by city. If you're talking about registration papers, as in a "pedigree" dog, the parents of your dog would have to be registered in order to get them. They would both have to be registered with the same registering body, which for the American Pit Bull Terrier would probably be either the United Kennel Club or the American Dog Breeders Association (or both). If either parent is unregistered, then the dog itself cannot be either. Your dog's breeder should have provided you with a registration slip when you purchased him/her. If your dog is of unknown heritage, then you cannot get him/her legitimately registered. There are various clubs which have popped up in the last decade offering to "paper" any dog, but such papers are generally considered worthless by reputable people and other registries.

That depends on where you live.

Most municipalities in the USA require yearly registration or licensing for dogs. Generally, the minimum requirement for licensing is that the dog must have a current rabies vaccination.

The best thing to do would be to check with your local city or town hall.

If you mean register, as in license, it's the same for any dog. If you mean breed registry, you can't because the dog is not full bred.
