Only if it has Coil On Plugs.
remove the 2.4 liter engine cover (4 large bolts) disconnect any electrical conectors (these hook up to the coil packs) and lift it straight off the top of the engine remove the boots from the spark plugs (these should be replace) and the plugs should be fully visible
In a 2000 Ford Taurus , the 3.0 liter " Duratec " DOHC - V6 has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system . So there are ( 6 coil packs )
if its a single overhead cam engine it has spark plug wires and dohc engine has coil packs
For 1.8L DOHC (mine is 2002, but 2003 should be the same) Open hood. Remove large plastic shield covering engine. Under the shield are two rectangular packs sitting side-by-side. The four spark plugs are under these two packs, deep in the engine - you will need an extension (and possibly a piece of hose) to get them out. Be careful not to strip the threads in the engine when installing new plugs.
Im having the same problem on my 1995 Saturn SC2 DOHC The two middle plugs have no fire changed the coil still nothing Hope someone can answer this Im having the same problem on my 1995 Saturn SC2 DOHC The two middle plugs have no fire changed the coil still nothing Hope someone can answer this
if it is a dohc engine then you may have to remove the intake manifold
Hi , If you still need to know where your spark plugs are I can tell you. There is a cover between the valve covers on the motor with 6 Phillips head screws. On top of the cover it reads "DOHC 16 Valve " Remove the cover and you will see #1 and #3 cylinder spark plug boots . #2 and #4 have a coil PAC on top of the spark plug boot. remove the 4 bolts ,2 each , and remove the coil pacs to get to the plugs. You will need a socket extension as you will see. I have a 2001 Kia Sephia and changed my plugs today . Have fun , Bob For pics. go to www.kia101.com and click on tune-up
No , if you have the " Vulcan " V6 engine it has the Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ( EDIS ) with ( 1 coil pack ) for the 6 spark plugs and if you have the " Duratec " DOHC , V6 engine it has the Coil On Plug ignition system with ( 6 ) individual coils
You didn't say which engine, but, The 24L DOHC engine is located in the top coil pack cover It is a rectangle shape plugin next to the fuel lines. On an 2.2L OHV engine follow the plug wires. It will be underneeth the coil pack. Either way the coil packs are sitting on top of the ICM....
bad coil pack... replace coil pack
If your Diamante is the Dohc 6 cyl. motor in it then you have to remove the entire intake manifold to replace the back 3 plugs I did it in about 4 hours with not many tools and I am a female. So it can be done.
To change the spark plugs on the quad 4 2.4L motor, take the four 13mm bolts off of the top cover on the motor and the connector off of the drivers side for the coil module.Pull up on the cover and the coil tower housing will come off with it. The spark plug boots may also come off with it or they may stay on the housing, pull them off. Then you may be able to remove the spark plugs from the valley. Make sure and inspect the coil tower housing for arcing which will be noticed by dark black lines in the housing if you are have a misfire problem and the plugs do not solve it then this is a common problem to occur with the 2.4L quad four Dohc motot. Make sure and put some di-electric grease on the spark plug boots and install on the coil tower housing and reinstall on the motor over the plugs. Set down carefully and then torque your bolts to 26ftlbs.
