not to long at all you need to fill it up
Up to a year and if it starts falling apart they just replace it for free
In my experience burning out alternators on a Pontiac and an Oldsmobile, you can get about 100,000 miles out of it before expecting to replace the alternator.

replace motor Another reason may be that hose on your motor near the top about 2 inches long. i have a 96 sl1 that was burning oil and i replaced that and it quit burning oil.
it is over heating mean u have used it to long and it needs to rest or cool down
You can usually use them for a few years before wear starts to take its toll.
Just because a car begins to misfire does not mean the end is near. I means it needs to be serviced.
As a part of your routine maintenance you should have your battery "Load Tested" at least once a year. When it fails testing replace it. If you run it too long it starts to harm the alternator and starter.
Does the engine turn? It might be a problem with your battery If your battery is faulty it will not retain charge for long, try using another battery or use a jumper cable and another car/battery. If it starts then replace your battery. If the engine turns but does not start then the engine needs tuning.
Replace the engine coolant sensor.
I would replace them, There probably worn out. Once they get alot of miles on them they get a coating also that makes them squeal.
