You should run your pump about 12 hours each day to keep water clean. You can put your pump on a timer to save money. Don't do that until your water clean and clear. If you are still working to get your water just right you need to keep your pump going full time.

How long does it normally take to drain the water from the pump when closing an in ground pool for the winter?

Draining the water from the "pump" (I'm assuming you mean the filter) should only take a few minutes. How long it would take to drain the water in the pool down to the winterization level would depend on the size of your pool and the pump you are using.

Why would the water flow decrease to a trickle after only a few seconds of trying to backwash your neglected green pool?

The water flow might decrease to a trickle after only a few seconds if there is an obstacle in the pool pump. The main reason this could happen is if the pool pump filter is dirty. Perhaps a leaf or stick entered the pump.

How can you return water out of your pump into the pool?

There are just a few easy actions you need to take to get the water from your pump back into the pool. Before anything else, check that the pump is wired in and primed. Make sure there is nothing clogging up the pump basket. Find the pool's water return inlet and proceed to the next step. This is a fixture that is typically installed on the pool's wall. Pool hose of an appropriate length should be attached to the pump's discharge port. The pool's return inlet should be connected to the hose's opposite end. When you're ready, activate the pump. After a while, water should start trickling through the hose and into the pool. Check for leaks in the plumbing and make sure the water is flowing freely. If the water flow rate is too slow or too fast, you can adjust the pump's settings. Proper water circulation and filtration rely on routine pump and pool equipment maintenance.

What do you do if you put too much algae remover in pool?

If you accidentally put too much algae remover in your pool, the first step is to dilute the water by adding more fresh water. You can also run your pool's pump and filter system to help circulate and dilute the chemical. It's important to monitor your pool's water quality closely and consider testing it after a few days to ensure it is safe for swimming.

How long do you need to run your pool pump. There is a self chlorinator in the system. Salt water pool. Located in the Treasure Coast of Fl?

The amount of time the pump should run for any pool will depend on a few things. Hotter seaons will require your pump to run about 8 hours. Running your pump in hotter seaons also require that the pump runs during the hottest part of the day. You may cut the hours to about 6, or as low as 4 during winter. Please keep in mind "bather load" or heating the pool in the winter can effect the hours your pump should run. During winter pump should be ran at night to avoid freezing of pipes
