Yes. For the protection of the doe and her kids, it is always a good idea to separate the goat in labor from the rest of the herd. If another member of the herd is stressed out or panics, the doe in labor will do the same which can cause complications during birth. More dominant goats may also view the new kids as intruders and will butt them out of the herd. When a birthing doe has her own secluded place it gives her time to bond with the new babies and understand that they are her own. It is also much easier to monitor the doe and the kids to make sure they are healthy. Most does will seclude themselves, as it is a natural instinct to avoid predators. After 2-3 days it is fine to introduce them into the herd, but always watch to see the reaction of the other herd members. Keep a safe place available so the doe can seclude herself and the kids if she needs.

Female koalas give birth within the safety of a gum tree's branches, where they are less likely to be attacked by predators during this vulnerable time.
Yes you have to separate them. The female might cause physical harm to the male hamster as when the female is giving birth, it's body temperature increases which causes her 'temper' to become 'bad'. This might cause obstruction to the male and therefore, the female might actually hurt the male. But don't worry, this is not serious. If the female hurts the male, after some time, they will get back together and the whole cycle will restart. But it is still the best to separate them to prevent the male from suffering injuries.
