"HD Radio Ready" refers to a device, typically a car stereo or home receiver, that is equipped to receive HD Radio broadcasts, which offer improved sound quality and additional content compared to traditional AM/FM radio. However, the device may require an additional HD radio tuner or specific features to fully utilize HD Radio capabilities. It may be a HD TV with Standard Freeview built in. Standard Freeview does not automatically contain any of the HD channels as it is not a HD service. However, you would get HD channels such as BBC HD and ITV HD if your TV had Freeview HD built in. So, my recommendation would be to buy a Freeview HD box. Remember to check on the Freeview HD website to find out when the service is rolling out in your area, as the service is actually brand new. My postcode doesn't receive this signal until June 2011, so be careful. The service at the moment is very limited.

Once you buy an HD receiver then you will get HD radio for free but your stations have to have the feature to get the quality. You pay for Satellite Radio but you get a ton more stations and can pick and choose to listen to any within your package. HD is only for regular local radio stations that have an HD antenna. Both boast great sound quality which is true they are way better that a normal radio station but still short of CD quality. If better sound if what you want then buy an HD receiver if better sound and more options is what you want then buy a subscription to satellite radio.
The dish box needs to be a HD box to receive the HD stations in HD.
