Why wouldn't you? Dentists mix a number of different things to apply to the teeth and gums of patients. The numbers should roll freely around in his or her head so that correct proportions can be arrived at without a struggle. Would you want a dentist who isn't any good at fractions or percentages? Not many people would find it acceptable that their dentist wasn't any good at simple math like fractions and percentages. Percentages, by the way, are merely fractions. They are one hundredths. If you have 10% of something, you have 10/100ths of that thing, or 1/10th of it. If it's 25% of something, that's 25/100ths, or 1/4 of that thing. This isn't rocket science, and fractions and percentages should be things that can be manipulated by every person graduating from grade school. Not high school, grade school.
