When you prestige on modern warfare 2 you lose all your weapons, perks, classes, challenges, and I think killstreak rewards(but I'm not sure). You keep your titles, eg.The Avenger etc. And you keep your emblems.

When you enter prestige mode, you reset your rank, you'll have to earn everything from weapons to perks to challenges. Titles and emblems are not reset though so you can keep them. You get a new challenge group called "Prestige" which can earn you some cool titles

To get to the first prestige in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you must reach level 70 on online multiplayer, then complete the XP for Level 70, then go to the Baracks in the lobby and there will be for choices that you will be able to select. What is a prestige on modern warfare?
On Call of Duty 4, after you reach level 55 (the maximum level) online, you can go into Prestige mode--or starting over for your second run of a maximum of eleven runs, making a total of 605 levels to obtain. In Modern Warfare 2, it is the same, but with 70 levels each, and titles or eblems to keep as you go into prestige. In prestige you lose all of your guns, perks, etc, but it gives you a chance to try other ways of leveling up. Once you're at 10th prestige, it stops and you have reached the last prestige.

quite simple really just reach level 70 which gives you the rank of commander. then go to barracks in the xbox360 live menu. it will say on a little meter xp bar "prestige". the simply press it and you are there! Except that you must be careful about deciding to enter prestige mode, because when you enter it you will lose all of your weapons, killstreaks, and perks. But you will keep all of you titles and emblems that you earned.
