Under normal circumstances, you do not need a 4WD to drive from Darwin to Alice Springs as the Stuart Highway, which runs between the two, is fully sealed.
During the wet season, a 4WD may be required along some sections of road south of Darwin.
To go from Alice Springs to Darwin, you must travel north.
Yes, there is. You would need to get on Great Southern Railway Train in Alice Springs and then get off at Adelaide Parklands Terminal. From there, you can board to your final destination, Melbourne Southern Cross.
It is about 440km from Alice Springs to Uluru (Ayers Rock) by road. The roads are straight but the shoulders can be soft and dusty, so drivers need to be careful when passing other vehicles. Allow an absolute minimum of five and a half hours for the journey.
In Alice itself there are quite a few good things to go to, many of which are quite unique and aren't the same as the type of thing you might find in other cities. One of my favourites was the Alice Springs Desert Park, where you get to see lots of the different animals from around the area. The Alice Springs Reptile Park is also quite good, but not as good as the Desert Park. The Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre is quite interesting, and then next door is the old gaol, which also has a museum dedicated to women, mostly pioneers. On Larapinta Drive is the Araluen Cultural Precinct, which has lots of different things within it, including art galleries, a memorial cemetery, an aviation museum and the Museum of Central Australia. There is of course also Ayers Rock, but that is actually over 400km from Alice Springs, and will probably need to be seen on a multi-day trip from Alice.
Yes, you can fly from Melbourne to Uluru (Ayer's Rock). The closest airport is Connellan Airport which is around 50km away. The closest major airport is in Alice Springs. You may need to fly to Alice Springs before flying to Connellan Airport.

To disconnect the coil springs on a 1998 Chevy Venture you first need to jack the vehicle up and release as much stress from the springs as possible. You may need to find a spring compressor to release the springs.
Charles Darwin developed the theory through his observations at the Galapagos Islands.
Provided there has been no recent wet weather (which would be unusual anyway), it is a very easy drive on quite a good road from Alice Springs to Uluru. If you do not have a 4WD, it will not matter because a normal sedan is fine for the journey. The scenery is fascinating, but you need to go into it with a positive determnination to observe as much as possible - or else you will be bored. The countryside is very flat, but the vegetation is unlike anything you may have seen before. There are some sections where you can stand just off the roadside and view some huge saltpans - whether they have water in them or not, they are quite spectacular. In places the scenery is almost other-worldly. A little way off the road, about a third of the way along, are some meteorite craters - again, an indication of the fascinating ancient history of Australia.
Leaf springs can be reset, or re arched. They will need to be taken off and taken to a specialty shop that has the machinery to reshape the springs properly.
