A ganglion lump attached to ligaments is a ganglion cyst. The cyst is a ball of fluid that grows on a ligament, tendon, or joint. Most go away in time by themselves, but some need surgery or needle aspiration.
You don't need to go to the e-room. I had a ganglion cyst removed at a doctors office, it took about 5 mins. to cut it out and stitch me up. The only downfall is physical therapy for the wounded area, which for me was my wrist. P.T. took about 6-8 weeks.

Sometimes you do, it depends on the kind of cast you get. If the surgery makes you get a hard cast (the ones friends can sign), you need crutches. It you get a cast with a hard bottom, you also need them. The only time you don't need crutches is if the cast is EXTREMELY soft.

Probably it *is* a cyst, but could be other things as well, which is why you need to show it to your doctor.
A cyst is a fluid filled structure. Cortical describes its location in the cortex, meaning the outer portion of the kidney. Mid pole is the middle portion of the kidney. There are different types of cysts. Simple cysts are harmless and may be ignored. Complex cysts range from harmless to cancerous. The features of the cyst will help the radiologist (the doctor interpreting the exam) determine whether the cyst is simple or complex. Depending on its features, complex cysts will need to be reimaged (with CT or ultrasound) or removed (with surgery).
If you break your arm you usually get just a cast. Unless you go in for surgery you won't usually need stitches.
No. You need to see the doctor for that.
Ganglion cysts usually appear on the dorsal or backside (top) of the wrist, where as carpal tunnel syndrome involves the flexor or palm side of the wrist. Neither one is really related to the other. Perhaps if you are having surgery on one you might consider having surgery on the other as well.
