You do not neccessarily need schooling to be a video game tester but you do need to be able to play video games at all levels, extensive knowledge of the operating systems and/or consoles you will be testing on and be able to use other software as well such as Windows. You will also need good oral and written communication skills to be able to explain the games you tested.
You don't need a degree. You should just major in art, writing, and computer science in college. You don't need a license either.
