Well of course master ball if you have it (thats what i used but then again i cheat) But your best bet would be dusk balls since they work better in dark places and giratina is in a cave.
Where to catch GIRANTINA on Pokemon Platinum?
I have finished Pokemon platinum and if you want Giratina in original form you need to capture him when you are in the distortion world (it comes near the end) but if you want the other form once you finish Pokemon league go to spring path and enter the hole you came out of the distortion world and you will be in the cave it is like a maze but soon you will find Giratina. Battle him and use a Masterball if you still have it or dust ball to catch him and you will have Giratina, note that you can only capture one form you, cannot capture both.

Well the trick is you cant fly or run you have to walk then you will find Mespirit and battle it you need a master ball to capture it. You will need to get a cheat for a ton of master balls though
