The regulations vary from province to province and city to city. We are governed under the Canadian Health Act ( Health Canada federally ), we are required to be licenced as Personal Service Establishments (PSE's) in order to provide any service to the public. We need to provide proof of our training, knowledge and relevant experience in the provision of services as a PSE. We need to provide documented proof of our training as well as hold up to date CPR and first aid certification. We make an applications with the local city business licensing department and local health protection department and pass building and health inspections prior to being approved for licensing. This means our facilities must be clean, stocked and equipped ready to go for our site inspection. All Canadian piercing facilities must pass 5 levels of inspection before we can be issued a license. Yes. In Canada all body piercings studios must work under Federal Health guidelines as well as provincial and local regulations. This means that a piercing studio must comply with not only local health regulations and business licensing requirements but also know and comply with Federal Health Canada guidelines for infection and disease control.
