Pumps, for example, are mechanical items, requiring mechanical engineering in their design and use.

Well Briefly, "Mechanical", in essence, means to move or, motion, movement etc. and the study of it. So, What it means to me is, the engineering of moving objects or of similar nature.

Hope this helped.

Engineering is the building of a thing,

physics is (trying to) understand why you did it that way.

The process of understanding and building a model/conept is a cyclic process. Hence engineering and physics cannot survive without each other.

How difficult is a mechanical engineering degree?

Depends on how difficult you find Physics and Calculus.

What is a Bachelor of Science in mechanical Engineering compared to Degree in Mechanical Engineering?

It's the same thing. If you have a degree in Mechanical Engineering, you have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Can you do robotics after diploma in mechanical engineering?

Mechanical engineering will help you with the physics of creating the structure; how to make a robotic arm that will survive the forces involved, where to put actuators that will cause a robotic component to move in the way you want, how to calculate the capacity of a robotic component when using a specific actuator and other similar MECHANICAL engineering factors. For the controls, you may want some computer experience as well. Some of the mechanical engineering colleges include essential computer programming.

Does mechanical engineering require math?

You need to take up to 4 years of calculus, as well as many science classes in physics and chemistry. Classes in algebra and trigonometry may be prerequisites for calculus.

What is the process of aeronautical engineering study?

Either, do BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN MECHANICAL ENGINEERING (2 YEAR COURSE level 2/3) or AN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING COURSE IN CERTAIN COLLEGES, LIKE SUSSEX, or you could do an APPRENTICESHIP IN AERONAUTICAL/AEROSPACE ENGINEERING and earn while you train. :). The Grades you need will be A*-C in Maths, English and Science (Physics) :)

a background in engineering, such as uni degree and maths and physics electives

Architecture or mechanical engineering?

Architecture if you are more of the artistic type, but also somewhat interested in math and physics, which you will need to understand if you are to be an architect. If you are very much into mathematics and physics, but not interested in art and design, then mechanical engineering would be better for you.
