No. There is no currently no need for guns in space. Modern firearms would also be a bit inefficient due to the fact that every action creates and opposite and equal reaction (i.e. recoil would suck in zero gravity).

WWII Japan made one or two military type (style) revolvers, and the rest were semi-automatic Nambu pistols during the war, mostly in 8mm caliber. Single shot pistols are either antique muzzle loaders or special cartridge firing "target" pistols. Hardly no military during WWII had need of single shot pistols.
They need the small sealed CO2 cartridges, not the screw on tanks. but yes they need Co2 to function.
In short, yes, they do. Some more than others.
