NO you don't need to copy Pokemon from the ds to play Pokemon battle revolution they give you a rental pass or 2 but you may stand a better chance at beating the game if you do copy your Pokemon from the ds to the Wii and the best part is that when you copy the Pokemon to the Wii you keep them on the ds as well so u can level them up and copy again (after you copy Pokemon though you have to use the same game chip and i think same file on ds version to copy Pokemon unless you start a new file on Pokemon battle revolution.
