Yes, probably. Most colleges and universities will require that take either the SAT or ACT.
But, a growing number of schools offer what they call a "write option" or "essay option". This allows students to submit a paper or essay instead of taking the standardized test. When schools offer this option, the essay/paper usually has to have been graded or reviewed by one of your high school teachers. Sometimes, you have to a have a certain GPA in order to qualify to do the write option instead of taking the SAT.
