Not a card wishing them a Merry Christmas,no, but don't ignore them. Tell them you understand, that you yourself felt you'd never smile or laugh again, someday, you'll find yourself back in the world, although one person or more are missing. You slowly start to live again, you never forget and sometimes it stings and hurts, but you get through it. You will smile again, it takes time, but so many love and want to protect you. You yourself have an over abundance of love to give, it's a God given capacity of love that needs to be shared.

How soon after a death should you send Christmas cards to the family of the deceased?

There are no rules of conduct or protocol for this, it totally a matter of personal preferences. If a grieving family who usually sends Christmas cards chooses not to send them this year, then that is fine; friends and family understand. My mother passed in July, and as much as I am grieving, my family and I have chosen to send Christmas cards and rejoice in Christmas, even though there have been some rough moments. My reasoning is base on my Christian beliefs, that although I am grieving, Mom's spirit is celebrating Christmas in Heaven with Jesus Christ, who is the very 'Reason for the Season' - God, who came to earth as one of us - His greatest gift. So, if your loved one is now with God, and God is with us, then your loved one is never far away. Whether you are a Christian or not, how you choose to celebrate is truly is a matter of personal preference. Take care of you and do only what you feel you can handle this year, and don't feel guilty over what you don't do. Christmas Blessings to All!
