I don't think the amount of reading would really change. It might go down because of cell phones and music but I think it will stay pretty constant, plus reading classic novels is still forced in schools, and minimum book requirements. Depending on how far in the future, you never know what new inventions may come. Maybe reading might not even be necessary!

It is difficult to predict with certainty, but technological advancements may continue to impact the way children consume information. However, there will likely always be a place for books in a child's development as they offer unique benefits that digital platforms may not fully replicate.

More or less, yes.

Why are children's books so much cheaper than books for adults even when the quality is the same?

Children's books often have simpler production costs as they are usually shorter in length with fewer pages and less complex illustrations. They are also printed on less expensive materials. Additionally, there may be higher demand for children's books, enabling publishers to produce them in larger quantities, lowering the cost per unit.

What is meant by 'children's literature is the stepchild of literature'?

AnswerIt means that writing children's literature is considered in literary circles to be valued but somehow less legitimate than other works of literature, probably because in a book for young children, you can write one sentence per page with a picture and have a book; and the writer of a children's book will be viewed to be somehow less of a writer than the writers of other types of books.I agree that would be what is meant by your quote. However, I personally believe that children's books provide a vital service. If they are not interesting or stimulating enough then many children will give up on reading for enjoyment and just think of all that they will miss out on.There are many brilliant children's books out there these days. Of course we know that the primer school books will have very few words in them but if they were too verbose in their writing the children would soon tire of reading as they are still at the beginning of their learning.
