This is a tricky one to answer because there are two right answers. There are two different series called Doctor Who. The one than ran from 1963 - 1989 and a second series that is considered a continuation from 2005 to present. The former is referred to as Classic Doctor Who and the current program is referred to as simply Doctor Who or the Doctor Who reboot to keep the two series straight. Classic Doctor Who's Season One was a whopping 42 episodes long. Each episode was 25 minutes in length. The current Doctor Who Season One was 13 episodes long with each episode approximately 45 minutes in length.
