Some anti-depressants/anti-anxiety drugs have dual or experimental uses. It doesn't mean that your doctor thinks you've suddenly turned into a nutjob.
Most commonly they're used in conjunction with some types of painkillers, as it helps to augment the treatment in some people (although I can honestly say none of those kinds of drugs ever helped my pain meds).
Still, you should never take anything prescribed by a doctor that you don't know why he/she is giving it to you. Doctors, contrary to popular belief, don't know as much as we think and sometimes prescribe meds incorrectly. That I nearly lost my life in a hospital due to a drug screwup is my own proof. Don't find out by being dead just because you trusted a doctor's word for it. KNOW WHY THEY'RE PRESCRIBING SOMETHING FOR YOU. These people are on the Drug Companies' list - their whole careers are guided by them to make them dependent on the drugs they want them to push and prescribe to you.
Always remember what they call the guy who finishes dead last in his class in Medical School: Doctor.

My doctor actually put me on .05 mg of Lorazapam and 20 mg of Lexapro at night. and I take Lorazapam in the morning same dose.

Yes! I started taking Lexapro about 4 weeks ago and I ran out of the trial packs my doctor gave me. He gave me 10mgs. to start on. I have not taken it in four days, and I feel weird! Vertigo feeling, panick, crying, can't concentrate, "buzzy" feeling in my head, bad dreams, can't sleep, nausea, VERY sensative to everything!(light, noise, touch, etc.) He put me on Lexapro to help deal with my Fiancee's deployment to Iraq, recently. I felt better about things, before all these withdrawal symptoms started happening....hang in there, and keep bugging your doctor about getting on something else!

Is it safe to take lithium carbonate with Lexapro?
Yes since that is what I am currently taking. I am on the max doseage of Lithium have been for over a yr and just started Lexapro today so I dont think my Dr would of put me on something that would kill me.

Talk to your doctor about it, and they will put you on medication if that is what you want. Being a peacemonger I don't believe in fighting. Then again maybe that's why I don't have fun. Seriously though, I just go back to sleep. Make the world go away, etc etc.
