Yes.
No. Only pre-1991 Escorts (generation 1) were interference engines. All escorts from 91 up are all non-interference engines. Gates says the the 2.0 SOHC engine is an interference engine. This is not right. Gates is wrong.
The 2.0 L - SOHC - IS AN INTERFERENCE ENGINE The 2.0 L - DOHC - IS NOT an interference engine
The Ford, Chrysler or Chevy 2001 3.8 engine?
In a 1998 Ford Escort : The 2.0 L - DOHC - 4 cylinder ( IS NOT ) an interference engine ( but the 2.0 L - SOHC - 4 cylinder engine IS an interference engine ) Just check with you local Ford dealer. I know from asking the dealer that the 2.0 single cam is not a interference engine. I have replace broken belts in many escort 93-2000 that it is not a interference engine. You can rotate the cam and crank, with the belt off, with no contact.
No it is a second generation. The engine in the focus is based on the third generation of engines from 1997 to 2002 Escorts.
For a 2001 Ford Focus , 2.0 SPI engine ( SOHC ) According to the Gates website ( they make timing belts etcetera ) ( Yes ) it is an interference engine
The Villager is NOT an interference engine. This is straight from a guy who was engineering liaison between Ford and Nissan on this project. The catalogs that say it is are WRONG.
It is non-interference. I think some mechanics say it is an interference type because one of the major repair manuals incorrectly states that it is interference, it is not...
Yes , it IS an interference engine ( according to the Gates website )
not gospel but 4.0 sohc engine is an interference major damage if timing chain or timing chain tensioner breaks
The SOHC 2.0 Ford engine is NOT an interference engine
Yes, both the SOHC and DOHC engines are interference engines. The belt must be replaced every 120,000 miles.
