No. Alabama is located in the Carolinian division of the Austral Zone. The second division consists of the Sonoran desert found in parts of CA, NV, AZ, UT, and other states plus N. Baja and Mexico. It's far too humid in AL to find the dry conditions needed to have "true" desert. JJA
You should remember that a "desert" does not mean "dry". It simply refers to any large stretch of land that is inhospitable to life. Alaska's frozen wasteland certainly falls into this category.
