Yes. The Rocky Mountains run along the western border, from the central area south east of Grande Prairie/Peace River all the way south to the USA/Canada border. The lower half of the western Alberta border follows the mountains that angle in slightly in to the east.

What has the biggest impact on the weather of Edmonton?

There are many but if I had to pick I would say the mountains. They stop the west moving systems from the Pacific from reaching Edmonton and when they do reach Edmonton they have much less moisture. They also block the warm systems and help cause systems from the north to have a more direct shot at Edmonton. This is why Edmonton is cooler than Calgary. That and Edmonton is farther north. Mountains and then the Jet Stream but the Jet Stream is the easy answer for all areas and mountains combined with our proximity to the Arctic has the biggest impact.

Who has the warmer climate Edmonton or Calgary?

Edmonton is slightly warmer than Calgary. Calgary is close to mountains this way Calgary is cold in the night time. Edmonton is Canada's sunniest. And warmer in night. Edmonton have nice lakes and river valleys. Calgary is one of the Canada's coldest place. Calgary is a nice place to visit. June is most rainiest and thunderstorm month is Edmonton. July, August, September is warmer is Edmonton. So in the end I suggest Edmonton is warmer than Calgary.
