Well there was a bit of controversy behind the Ash and Misty relationship. Misty crush on Ash was confirmed in the Pokeman CD called 2BA Master and even though it was not directly said in the anime, there were hints to how Misty felt about Ash. In episodes " The Heart Break of Brock, she tells Ash "You and I will be married some day too" and in the episode "Gota Catch you Later" she sings "You're more than my Best Friend" to Ash. There were fans that tried to demand Nintendo to depict Ash and Misty as lovers dubbed as "Pokeman Shipping" but it never came about because a new idea was being supported by fans called "Advanced Shipping" where Ash and his new traveling partner May have crushes on each other since Misty is no longer one of the main characters in Pokeman. Misty voice actress has hinted that Misty may make an appearance or be in the "Diamond and Pearl" Pokeman Series.
