A hematology pit test, also known as a peripheral blood smear, is a laboratory test used to examine blood cells under a microscope. This test helps identify various conditions by assessing the shape, size, and number of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It can aid in diagnosing anemia, infections, blood disorders, and other hematological conditions. The test involves spreading a drop of blood on a glass slide, staining it, and then examining it for any abnormalities.
