Concerta(Methylphenidate) is not an amphetamine, but can cause a false positive in a urine test. The question is unclear on what kind of drug test, and the USADA does not indicate whether its tests are materially different than a common employment test, for example.

Yes, it might fail a drug test.... depends on how specific the test is. No, it is not meth, or Methamphetamine. The medical name is Methylphenidate, which is Ritalin, not meth. Methamphetamine is approved by the FDA in the United States for the treatment of ADHD and obesity, under the trademark name Desoxyn. Methamphetamine is addictive. Methylphenidate has shown some benefits as a replacement therapy for Methamphetamine addicts, so it helps the addicts to wean themselves off of the dependence on meth... in the same way that Methadone is used as a replacement for Heroin. The pharmacological effects of methylphenidate, a schedule II drug, are almost identical to Cocaine and Amphetamines if abused (extremely large doses or crushed and snorted or otherwise taken against doctor's instructions). Concerta, unlike meth, is not addictive, but it can be abused. Hell, if kids are huffing aerosols, they'll find a way to abuse Concerta.
