If you are beginning your pre-med in 2013, Florida Southern's undergraduate major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology will help, since MCAT is changing from 2015 with inclusion of new subjects such as Biochemistry, Psychology & Sociology. Another plus point you will have is that school has articulation with FSU. Smaller class size in private colleges really help in learning. Make sure you design your pre-med course work working with your counselor, which can help you with two important things: For MCAT Prep and for Premed requirements ( Review few top notch colleges prerequisites and check the requirements of your potential colleges too). In short nothing is wrong with FSC. Good Luck.

Do you have to get an a in biology to become a surgeon?

It definitly helps, to get into a good biology or premed college, but if you want to become a surgeon that badly then you should improve your biology grades definitly. On the other hand, you don't necessarily NEED an A, a B would suffice to get into a decent or semi-decent premed school. Just work hard and don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. Good luck!
