It stands for the Great Barrier Reef
GBR stands for the Great Barrier Reef. It is the largest coral reef system with an estimated length of 2300 km.
There are many organisms throughout the oceans that coexist in a commensalistic relationship. Perhaps the most apparent would be that of anemones and anemone fish, which inhibit the BGR (Great Barrier Reef) by the thousands. As the GBR is simply a coral reef on an enormous scale, researching "coral reef commensalism" will provide much data regarding commensalism that is common on the GBR.

It stand for Go Big Red and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. GBR!
No, to the contrary; there are blue holes in the Great Barrier Reef (GBR).The GBR is a 2700km long complex with over 2900 individual reefs. A few of these reefs have blue holes in them. Blue holes are often caused by underground rivers and caves inside individual reefs, left over from the last ice age. More recently the roof of some of these rivers and tunnels would have collapsed leading to the formation of these "blue holes". I personally know of only one, but there are surely a few.

Overfishing is "catching too many fish". Because of this, it affects the Great Barrier Reef and other oceans because people fish so much that the fish cant sustain their population. Therefore the fish get fewer and fewer and that means no more fish in The reef.
Each participating country has a three letter abbreviation assigned to it, in the case of Great Britain and Northern Ireland it is GBR. Please note the highlighting.
