The Apostle Paul declared in the plainest of terms in 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 that at the moment a Christian dies and leaves this sphere of existence, he enters at once into the presence of the Lord Jesus. Also, while on the cross Jesus promised the dying thief that he would be with him in paradise that very day Luke 23:43. The unbeliever's fate is not a pleasant one as he/she experiences punishment in hell. On judgment day or the Day of the Lord, God will judge all human beings, believers and unbelievers alike and each will receive their reward.

ANOTHER ANSWER:

No. The world and all of its false religions [including modern professing "Christianity"] remains ignorant of many things; not the least of which is the Truth about "The Judgment"... the thing called "death"... and the fact that "God has a SEVEN-PHASE PLAN that's on a TIME SCHEDULE." And that AT THE END of His plan, a time OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD WILL OCCUR.

The religions of this world don't know what death is. They all imagine [in spite of the clearly revealed Truth of Scripture] that "death and life" ARE THE SAME THING; with death merely being a continuation of existence in some other form and/or place. Even when The Bible clearly refers to death as SLEEPING -- A STATE OF DREAMLESS, DORMANT, UNCONSCIOUSNESS.

"...THE DEAD KNOW NOTHING..." !!! (Eccle.9:5 NLT New Living Translation)

The Bible states very clearly that the only place we go when we die is TO THE GRAVE!

"...when YOU GO TO THE GRAVE, there will be NO WORK or PLANNING or KNOWLEDGE or WISDOM." (verse 10)

Death is THE OPPOSITE OF LIFE... not the same thing. Death is UNCONSCIOUS SLEEP! Even Job knew of this Truth of God:

"So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, THEY SHALL NOT AWAKE, nor be raised OUT OF THEIR SLEEP. O that thou wouldest HIDE ME IN THE GRAVE... until THY WRATH BE PAST..."

[a reference to the many Bible prophecies of the 'Day of the LORD', the Day when Christ returns to earth with the WRATH OF GOD and JUDGMENT! "Behold, the Day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with WRATH and FIERCE ANGER... And I will punish the world for their evil... Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall move out of her place, IN THE WRATH of the LORD of hosts, and in the Day of His fierce anger..." --Isa.13:9-13]

"...that thou wouldest APPOINT ME A SET TIME, and REMEMBER ME! ..."

[this refers to the coming RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD of God's saints; which the Bible reveals will occur AT THE TIME OF CHRIST'S RETURN, ONE THOUSAND YEARS BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE WHO HAS EVER LIVED AND DIED THROUGHOUT THE GENERATIONS OF MAN who were never "called by God"]

"...If a man die, SHALL HE LIVE AGAIN? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, TILL MY CHANGE COME. Thou shalt call [God will call His saints from their graves and they will hear Him], and I will answer thee... My transgression [sin] is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity." (Job 14:12-17)

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all SLEEP, but WE ALL SHALL BE CHANGED, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, AT THE LAST TRUMP [Jesus returns at the sounding of the LAST TRUMPET at the end of God's plan. That's the "change" for which Job is waiting will occur]: for the trumpet will sound, and THE DEAD SHALL BE RAISED INCORRUPTIBLE, and we SHALL ALL BE CHANGED." (I Cor.15:51-52)

Job knew of the coming resurrection(S) of the dead, beginning with Christ's return... the BEGINNING OF GOD'S JUDGMENT UPON THE EARTH. The one's to which Paul referred... and which John saw in his "vision" of the future.

"...so in Christ shall ALL BE MADE ALIVE[resurrected from the dead]. But EVERY MAN IN HIS OWN ORDER: Christ the Firstfruits [was and is the FIRST MAN raised from the dead IMMORTAL! And so far He is the ONLY ONE]; afterward they that are Christ's AT HIS COMING." (I Cor.15:22-23)

"...they lived and REIGNED WITH CHRIST A THOUSAND YEARS. But the rest of the dead [those never called by God during their lifetimes] lived not again UNTIL THE THOUSAND YEARS WERE FINISHED. This is THE FIRST RESURRECTION. Blessed and Holy is he that hath part in THE FIRST RESURRECTION; on such the SECOND DEATH hath no power..." (Rev.20:4-6).

Have you ever heard a professing "Christian" minister preach on the RESURRECTIONS at the Last Day of God's plan? How about the TWO possible DEATHS that man can experience? The Bible reveals that the FIRST DEATH is APPOINTED TO US! But that the Salvation of Christ CAN render the SECOND DEATH powerless against us.

"...as it is APPOINTED UNTO MEN ONCE TO DIE, but after this THE JUDGMENT [not immediately when men die, but the Judgment AT THE LAST DAY of God's plan of which the Bible speaks and teaches]: so Christ was ONCE OFFERED to bear the sins of many; and UNTO THEM THAT LOOK FOR HIM [how many modern professing Christians are looking for Christ to return? Or are most of them expecting to GO TO HEAVEN, TO GO TO HIM; not for Him to come to us] SHALL HE APPEAR THE SECOND TIMEwithout sin unto Salvation." (Heb.9:27-28)

Of course, the mainstream religions of this world can't preach the Resurrection from the dead... because in their dogma NO ONE REALLY DIES! We just go on living somewhere else, like heaven if we've been good or hell if we've been bad; fully conscious and aware of everything going on on planet earth: up in heaven, possibly looking down on your loved ones experiencing excruciating pain and suffering -- which should make you wonder just how blissful heaven really is -- that is, if this scenario is biblically accurate.

So, no... the dead aren't Judged immediately when they die. The KNOW NOT ANYTHING! They're ASLEEP... UNCONSIOUS OF THE PASSING OF TIME.

"...'Our friend Lazarus SLEEPETH; but I go that I may AWAKE HIM OUT OF SLEEP... Howbeit Jesus spake of HIS DEATH, but they [Jesus' disciples] thought that He had spoken of TAKING REST IN SLEEP. Then said Jesus unto them PLAINLY, 'LAZARUS IS DEAD.'" (John 11:11-14)

Like those Jews who "believed on Jesus" in the latter verses of John chapter 8; modern professing Christianity, today, believes on and professes Jesus' NAME.... but they DON'T BELIEVE A WORD HE SAYS -- because men believe what other men tell and teach them; not the Truth of the Scriptures:

"...'ye seek to KILL ME, because MY WORD HATH NO PLACE IN YOU." (John 8:37)

"Why do ye not understand My speech? Even because ye CANNOT HEAR MY WORD." (verse 43)

There are no people in heaven, as men teach and have taught us from childhood [even from many diverse religions]. The false religions of this world teach us that "death is the same thing as life"... only in some form other than the physical... and generally in some other place or plane or dimension.

But the Bible reveals that it's not true. The dead are not Judged immediately at death. They GO TO THE GRAVE... where they "unconsciously" in "dormant slumber" await "their appointed time" to resurrect by the power of God in whatever order He deems fitting... at which TIME each person will face Judgment. Not Judgment for their religious beliefs, or for which church they attended or failed to attend; but they will be Judged by THEIR LIFE'S WORKS... measured against the things that are recorded in God's inspired Word, the BOOKS of the BIBLE!

"...and the BOOKS WERE OPENED... and THE [resurrected] DEAD were JUDGED out of THOSE THINGS WHICH WERE WRITTEN IN THE BOOKS, ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS." (Rev.20:12)

Jesus clearly reveals that THE WORDS OF GOD RECORDED IN THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE WILL BE THE JUDGE OF ALL MEN -- and it won't happen UNTIL THE LAST DAY OF GOD'S PLAN -- JUDGMENT DAY:

"He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My Words, HATH ONE THAT JUDGETH HIM: THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN, the same shall JUDGE HIM IN THE LAST DAY. For I have not spoken of Myself; but THE FATHER WHICH SENT ME, He gave My a commandment, WHAT I SHOULD SAY, and WHAT I SHOULD SPEAK... whatsoever I speak therefore, even as THE FATHER SAID UNTO ME, so I speak." (John 12:48-50)

No.

The Bible reveals two Judgments:

There is the Judgment of God's saints [those whom God has been calling from among the nations since Abel] who have had God's Truth revealed to their minds and hearts over the centuries, who have been and are being judged now, according to what they have done and are doing with the wisdom, knowledge and understanding they have been given by God... and how much they have or are growing with it. These "pre-judged saints of God will receive their reward at the time of Jesus' return, as depicted in a number of Jesus' parables:

The parable of the "Ten Virgins" [Matt.25], speaks of the time of the "return of the Bridegroom" for His saints. If the ten virgins represents all the Christians alive at the "end time" return of Jesus Christ ... then, half of the world's professing Christians are not going to be ready for Him, for five out of the ten are unprepared... and they receive their judgment.

"Verily I say unto you, I know you not." (verse 12)

"...the Kingdom of Heaven is as a man travelling into a far country [Jesus going to heaven], who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods... And after a long time the Lord of those servants cometh, and RECKONED WITH THEM." (Matt.25:14 & 19)

A similar parable... "of the pounds" is told in Luke 19, where an "accounting" of the nobleman's servants is exacted upon his return from a "far country."

"And it came to pass, that when He was returned, having received the Kingdom, then He commanded these servants to be called unto Him, to whom He had given the money, that He might know how much every man had gained by trading." (Luke 19:15)

These are illustrations of God's Judgment on those who are called today... who should be growing and developing in righteous character, wisdom, knowledge, understanding of God's Truth [in accordance with their talents and blessings]... and how they have or are using it to edify others and inform the world of the good news of God's coming Kingdom.

These receive their reward of Kingdom rulership in accordance with their growth in the Lord.

"...he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron..." (Rev.2:26-27).

"Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord hath made ruler over His household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when He cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That He shall make him ruler over all His goods." (Matt.24:45-47)

"But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My Lord delayeth His coming... the Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for Him... and shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (verses 48-51)

The saints of God [those whom God has been calling since man's creation] have been and are being judged now during this time allotment God has granted to man.

"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?" (I Peter 4:17)

For the vast majority of the rest of mankind... the great harvest of souls at the end of God's plan... their Judgment is prophesied to occur at the end of Jesus' thousand year rule of the Kingdom of God on earth:

"...I saw thrones, and they [God's judged and rewarded saints who are now appointed by Christ their seats of authority within the Kingdom] sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them... and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. BUT THE REST OF THE DEAD LIVED NOT AGAIN UNTIL THE THOUSAND YEARS WERE FINISHED. This is the first resurrection.

"Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years." (Rev.20:4-6)

The Judgment of "the rest of the dead," the uncalled generations of mankind, then takes place when the thousand year rule of Christ is done.

"And I saw a Great White Throne..." (verse 11)... which many refer to today as: The Great White Throne Judgment.

Contrary to popular teaching by the churches today... the Bible nowhere teaches that an "immortal soul" is immediately judged and goes immediately to heaven or an ever-burning hell upon a person's death.

God's Judgments are prophesied and explained in His Word.

His saints have been and are being judged now... and shall resurrect or rise into the clouds with them and Christ at His return to receive their rewards then.

And the vast majority of the rest of mankind will receive Judgment after the Millennial Rule of Christ.

yes ! ......the spirit is lifted and it shall go either to heaven or hell.

read the parable of the rich man and Lazarus's. the rich man went to hell and Lazarus's went to the grave with Abraham. The in Matt. 27 the first resurrection took place when the graves were opened. Abraham and all those who were in the grave came forth. Jesus himself said that he is the resurrection and truth and life and way; even to this day. He holds the keys to eternal life. The malefactor was forgiven and in that same day he arose to paradise because of the Almighty Lord and Saviour Jesus the Christ had spoken it. Jesus said that He shall abide in us and we in Him forever. oh death where is thy sting, see death has no dominion over the children of God because He abides. KJV
