Were do salmon live?
Although salmon are born in freshwater rivers they spend their lives at sea. After spawning they spend a couple of years making their way down river to the sea. They then adapt to sea water and spend up to two years at sea before swimming back to the actual river they were spawned in. There they lay their eggs and die within two weeks, enriching the river with food for their young to repeat the cycle all over again.

Do fish die after laying eggs?
Salmon die after spawning due to exhaustion and malnutrition. As most salmon are sea fish, the environment of the creeks and streams are poisonous to them and they are unable to feed as they swim up stream. By the time they get to the spawning grounds they have used up their stores of energy and cannot get back to the sea.

From Tupelo Mississippi what Indian Trace was directly west to the Mississippi River?
== == Natchez Trace --- I think is the answer. However it is east of the Mississippi River. If that is the river you refer to. The Natchez Trace was actually a trail used by traders who took goods down the Mississippi River to sell at New Orleans. They would take the trail back up north. It started at Vicksburg and crossed diagonally the state. See link for Natchez Trace Parkway.
