It shouldn't stop working, no. Have you been going to your regular therapy so you can learn how to deal with stress and your depression? That's the only sure cure because if you're not doing therapy, your depression is going to get worse over the years. Lexapro is a good antidepressant because it has few side effects and doesn't make you drowsy like some of them do. If you're working on the therapy end regularly, and still having depression, ask your psychiatrist about adding a second drug (like Abilify) or trying some non-medication treatments like sunlight bulbs for seasonal depression.
Another thing that works with many people is to get out of the house and do something for someone else - volunteer at your local shelter or hospital, or join Habitat for Humanity or another charitable organization.

I have been on Lexapro for about a month now. My weight is ballooning. I want to come off of it before the withdrawal get to bad. Does the time you are on lexapro coincide with the amount of withdrawl problems? The problem is, I feel great taking the lexapro, but, can't handle the side effect
Xanax can be prescribed by your doctor alongside lexapro and taking them at the same time is okay. I am on Lexapro and take Xanex for occasional bouts of anxiety or panic attacks. However, weening yourself off Lexapro with Xanex is probably not the best idea. If you are having withdrawal from Lexapro you should probably go back on it.

Lexapro made me very sleepy when I was taking it in the morning. I now take it before bed and my doctor agreed that this is the optimal time to take it.
supposedly it can cause bleeding in the liver, gums, etc. talk to your doctor. in small doses it is sometimes permitted.
