Parts of the pattern are wider on the reproduction than on the original. More than likely if you have piece you have a reproduction piece as the 'real' Madrid from the 20s is VERY rare. Madrid does come in several colors. Original colors were blue, pink, green and amber. The teal-blue is from the 70-80s and is a reproduction.

The turquoise color, or more precisely, the shade of turquoise, is caused by the additives the ancient glass makers may or may not have used. The natural color of the ancient glass was/is a pale blue-green or turquoise. To make it darker an additive was added to the glass making ingredients. If the additive were copper, various shades of blue and green could be achieved, depending upon the amount used. A darker green was achieved by the addition of lead to the formula.
