Yes, she is. She's 99 or 100 years old now. Oh, and it's 'Miep Gies', not Meip Geist.
He helped hide Ann Frank and her family
The correct spelling of her name is Meip Gies. She was one of the people who helped Anne Frank and her family hide out in an annexe in Amsterdam during the second world war.
Miep Gies hid Anne Frank, her family, and four other Jews in the Secret Annex in Amsterdam during World War II.
Miep Gies attended the Lyceum of Utrecht in the Netherlands. She later became known for her role in helping to hide Anne Frank and her family during the Holocaust.
Mr.kraler helped the franks and thw vandaans while they were i the annex. along with meip gies who also helped them
meip gies was German, so she wouldn't have to go to concreation camps, anyhow she is still alive so shes not dead, she now is 100 Meip was not German. She was from Austria. When she was a young girl, her family could not afford to feed her. She was sent to Holland to live with a host family and never returned home except to visit as an adult. She almost did almost go to a camp. The arresting officer knew she had helped hid the families on the day of the arrest, but he recognized her accent and did not take her. She speaks German, Dutch, and English. If you really want to feel like you know her, read her book, Anne Frank Remembered. Amazing. You can also get a copy of the film based on the book. It won as best documentary the year it was released. This is an amazing woman.
because they both made the attempt to get help even though it may not have worked and they both had heroic people help them like paul r and meip gies
Anne Frank's family received food through ration cards which were distributed by the Dutch government during the Nazi occupation. They also received food from the helpers who were assisting them in hiding. Their rationing was quite limited, so they often had to ration their food carefully.
