Yes it is similar to the moons surface
yes it does
It appears to have many rocky valleys and ridges, and innumerable impact craters.
Mercuries surface has many craters on it and its surface temp can reach 590k!!
Mercury has no atmosphere and no surface fluids, so there is nothing to erode the craters.
Craters!!
craters
Craters, mostly. The new Messenger photos of Mercury from just last week show craters on craters, and chains of craters. It looks a lot like the Moon, actually. You can see some photos of Mercury at the link below.
Mercury's surface is covered in craters on approximately 45% of its surface. These craters were formed by impacts from meteoroids and asteroids over millions of years, due to Mercury's lack of atmosphere to protect its surface.
The planet with many craters is Mercury. Due to its lack of a substantial atmosphere, Mercury is unable to shield itself from asteroid and meteor impacts, resulting in a surface covered with numerous craters. Additionally, its proximity to the Sun means that it experiences extreme temperature variations, which can also affect surface conditions. The Moon also has many craters, but Mercury has the distinction of being the most cratered planet in the solar system relative to its size.
This mostly happened due to many meteorites and comets bombarding the surface of the planet.
craters... :)
