LOVE : Juliet and Romeo share a romantic type of love. Juliet and the Nurse share a mother-daughter sort of relationship. Juliet confides in the Nurse and the Nurse has practically raised Juliet. Romeo and his friends, Benvolio and Mercutio, love each other. It's evident right at the begining of the play when Romeo is feeling down about a girl Rosaline that doesn't return his love. They encourage him to go to the Capulet party in order to meet more women and forget about Rosaline because they don't like seeing him so heartbroken. Love is also observed between Juliet and her cousin, Tybalt. He is very upset when he discovers that Juliet has fallen in love with a Montague, long-time enemy to the Capulets. He would not want her to get involved with someone whom their family is not fond. FRIENDSHIP : Juliet confides in the Nurse. She feels like she can tell her about loving Romeo, a Montague and an enemy in Juliet's family's eyes. Romeo and his friend Mercutio share a very strong bond as well. Mercutio is always there for Romeo when he is feeling down or is in trouble. When Tybalt (Juliet's cousin) challenged Romeo to a dual, Romeo refused to fight him. But Mercutio fought on his behalf because he was enraged that someone wanted to hurt his friend.
