New Zealand used to manufacture cars from imported kitsets. This is a quite low value-added product however, and has now largely ceased.
The NZ contribution to a car assembled from a kitset, is only 60 to 80 man-hours in the assembly. There is a small increase above this for accessory products such as paint, upholstery, tyres, and battery manufacture, but this adds little.
