YES. to some extent. When you install antivirus it will utilize the maximum resource from your cpu, Better you go for lighter one. I don't recommending spending money for antivirus.

∙ 13y agoI've used Norton and I'll NEVER go near it again! Not only did it slow my system down it has let viruses through. AND when you try and remove Norton it leaves small files and it is almost impossible to get rid of these file because there is no mention of Norton in the file to help you find it manually. A good program that takes little resources and is rated number one in stopping viruses is ESET NOD23 you can read more about ESET NOD23 on this site trojanhorseremoval.org

I really wouldn't suggest it. Anti-Virus programs can clash and slow down your computer a lot. You dont need both. Use either AVG or Norton. AVG is better in my opinion.

You can either send a nasty letter to Norton (which won't get you anywhere :/), or you can install other antivirus software (after, of course, uninstalling Norton). If you chose to install different antivirus software, I would recommend Microsoft Security Essentials which in my opinion is the best antivirus software out there. It is completely free. It doesn't slow down your system, or anything like other antivirus software do. I barely notice that I have it except when every once in a while it asks me to scan my computer (which is a good thing). If you don't want to download that, there is also AVG Free. It isn't nearly as good, it has advertisements, and it slows down your computer, but I like it way better than Norton. Hopefully this helps, sorry that I don't know a way to stop Norton from doing that.

On a side note: Norton is not as good an antivirus as most people say it is, it is a resource hog and tends to slow down your computer.
