No he doesnt die and neither does price you rescue price in MW2
But he does die in Mw3 because when he was stabbed (it was healed) but then it reopened when he tried to save Yuri when they were trying to kill Makarov. Yuri is Nikolais loyalist friend who also has a grudge against Makarov.

∙ 12y agoJohn "Soap" Mactavish dies because of a hidden bomb, in the palace from which him, and Yuri (one of the main characters of MW3) were observing from. The bomb was activated, and the only thing left to do was jump of the palace. After a long 10 minutes of dragging Soap up to a "rebel" safehouse, John "Soap" Mactavish dies. Howerver, before dieing, he leaves a message to Price, he said that Yuri knew Makarov. (This all happened in the mission "Blood Brothers" in Call of Duty (Infinity Awards) Modern Warfare 3).
Yes, i own and have beat the MW3 campaign, John "Soap" MacTavish does die at the end of the 2nd Act of the Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 campaign.
