Does Spain have famous museums?
Spain has many famous museums. Some, like El Prado, are well known and open to the public. Others, like the Archivos de las Indias, in Sevilla are only available to scholars.
El Archivo de las Indias houses a tremendous amount of the original paperwork generated by Spain's great period of discovery. They are all original documents, very fragile, and irreplaceable.
One very popular museum name is Gugenheim, there are 8 Gugenheim museums across the world, including Venice and New York. Two other museums in New York are the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) and the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Other famous art museums are the Louvre in France, and the Tate Modern in London.
The objects found in museums are generally antiques and/or artifacts. Some museums are specialized and only contain objects relating to a specific subject. For instance, in Minnesota, there is a museum dedicated to SPAM! There are baseball museums that have uniforms which were worn by famous players. There are wax museums where there are likenesses of famous (and infamous!) people. You can find a museum that specializes in almost any subject that you can imagine!
