I'm an overweight 43 y/o white male who lives a fairly sedentary lifestyle. As long as I can recall, my BP has always been 120/80 +- 1%. I watch it carefully because my father had hypertension, and I carry 230 lbs on a 6'1" frame.

I went on Strattera about a year ago, and this year's physical showed my BP much higher than it has been. I tracked it on a home monitor for two months, and it averaged to 169/93. The highest was 205/100. I always checked it while at rest. My pulse is much higer also, typically around 85 bpm where it used to be around 68-72 bpm even while lying down. Oddly, physical exertion doesn't seem to increase my pulse very much. I am also having increase in severe headaches, especially upon awakening (some say this is indicative of hypertension.)

I can't say it is a result of the STRATTERA, but I'm going to see my Dr about quitting it to see if there is a change. He put me on NORVASC a month ago, and it has not affected my BP in any meaningful way so far.

Keep in mind that increasing age plays a role in BP elevation as our blood vessels get less elastic. It would seem unlikely that my age would suddenly catch up to me just as I began taking a new med, though, wouldn't it?

I have been on this drug 4 months......I have not had B/P problems before. I have had several spells this month where I became dizzy, vision narrowed, HA, felt faint...when I checked my B/P, it was 183/110.......I am a usual 138/78 gal.....these symptoms have increased, and my B/P higher than it ever has been, as well as other symptoms I cannot tolerate...ie dizziness more frequently, insomnia, lower abdominal cramping constant, constant upset stomact and nausea...not worth the problems it is causing.

I was taking one strattera daily for two weeks and I was find. My dr. increased me to 2x a day and now I'm finding I am having more anxiety. I have had small bouts of anxiety in the past, but they were confined to mostly evening hours and would go away with deep breathing exercises. This anxiety is much worse, starts out in the a.m. and lasts all day. It is not, however, a daily occurrance. I'm also noticing shakiness and headache. I'm going to request my strattera be reduced to 1x a day and see if this resolves on its own. Would be interested to hear of other people's experiences. SB

Does dip show up in blood test?

Chewing tobacco will show up in a blood test. Despite the name, it is not chewed; 'dip' is held between the teeth and the inner lip. It abrades (makes tiny cuts) in your skin and nicotine is absorbed into the blood stream. Oral cancers are prevalent among users of chewing tobacco. Some consider it worse than smoking.
